“Dios se lo Pague”- God will reward you.

This painting is a tribute to my grandmother—a woman of quiet resilience who spent her days beneath the awnings of a farmers market in Ecuador, her hands always busy, her heart always open. Among the colorful abundance of fruits and woven goods, she offered more than just sustenance—she gave dignity, kindness, and warmth to every passerby. Her humble refrain, “Dios se lo pague”—May God repay you—echoed through the stalls like a prayer, a gesture of gratitude when nothing else could be offered.
Through this work, I weave memory, devotion, and a longing to preserve the beauty of her everyday grace—a love that persists in the folds of fabric, in the sun-warmed fruit, in the quiet exchange between giver and receiver.
