A response to the prompt given : “ Create an object that would be used for a mundane action”, for my Foundation class at Cooper Union.

This was my first time using metal as well as bending, welding and using Rhino8

Growing up in a religious household, I was required to pray every morning and night and attend 6 a.m. church every Sunday. I never believed in heaven, but fear and uncertainty kept me performing the ritual. I was taught that if I did not pray 100 times each night, God would punish me.

This work reflects prayer as an enforced routine—repetition, control, and obligation rather than comfort. It also acknowledges the broader impact of Catholic conversion on my Indigenous family, including social pressure to assimilate and the loss of language, as Spanish was prioritized over Quechua to avoid discrimination and protect educational opportunity.
